This yearโs Be Inspired Business Awards were once again held at the world famous Blackpool Tower on Friday 16th September 2022. The BIBAs are Lancashireโs most prestigious and longest running business awards programme run by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce. They are a celebration of some of the most exciting companies and entrepreneurs across the county.
Following a written application and interview The Boathouse Youth was shortlisted in the Community Business of the Year category. As a charity we were celebrating the exponential level of growth weโve seen in the last 12-18 months – taking particular pride in the successful generation of more than ยฃ1,000,000 during our last financial year. An organisational first, thanks to the many businesses and grant making organisations that support our work.
On this occasion the winning-ticket was not to be ours, but we were extremely delighted to receive second place: Highly Commended. Laurance Hancock, our Chief Executive, said: โItโs great to be walking away from such a prestigious event with our name in a frame! Itโs a real testament to the hard work and dedication shown by the team!โ. There were eight finalists in the category, which had already been whittled-down from two rounds of application.
Victoria Thompson, a BHY Trustee, said โI had a brilliant time at the event, it was a great to be there with such a fantastic team!โ.
The news came just after our shortlisting in the Youth Work Category for the Children & Young People Awards taking place in London later this year. Our award category is sponsored by the National Youth Agency, and weโve got everything crossed for a win!
Thereโs no doubt that The Boathouse Youth will be back at the BIBAs next year hoping to wow the judges just that little bit more. In the meantime, our certificate hangs pride of place in our offices.
