This week our Fleetwood Youth Centre opened its doors to the town’s young people… and they came in their droves with more than 250 registering in the first five days!

We’ve taken a respectful approach to this expansion enabling Fleetwood’s young people to shape the centre into something unique for them, being careful not to inadvertently ‘impose’ our Blackpool model on this community.

No grand launch or ribbon-cutting — just an organic opening.

Our team invited young people in as they walked past after school, showing them around and sharing details of sessions happening throughout the week.

The response? 💭

Incredible. 🚀

Young people instantly took the lead, running games, making snacks, and setting up for the sessions. It’s clear this centre is already becoming their space. 💪🏽

Regrettably, with so many young people already starting their journey of participation, we’ve had to suspend registrations due to our limited staffing capacity, but we are working hard to get more staff and volunteers in place as soon as possible. Then we can give our newest young people a budget to plan their own official launch party. 🥳
