World of Work

A key indicator of The BHY’s success is when children and young people who have grown-up through the organisation enter into meaningful employment.

Young People participate in a safety-briefing with Tyson’s Construction on the Grange Park housing development.

That’s why, during the Easter Holidays, we teamed-up with two local firms to provide young people with a work-experience designed to inspire the participants and help them to determine what they might like to do in the future.

A significant barrier to young people entering into the world of work from 16+ is a lack of understanding of the opportunities available and a failure for society to inspire those youngsters into meaningful employment that they can both enjoy and earn a living from. This project is about introducing them to inspiring individuals and different working environment which they could consider for their own future.

A special thanks to 345BRICKWORK who gave the young people a lesson in bricklaying and told them all the great things about a career in construction.

Philip Helm, Business Development Manager at Tyson’s said “Pleasure to host this event – really great group of young people – eager to learn”.
