A group of young men from The Boathouse Youth headed down to Westminster to speak with researches from the Centre for Social Justice on a piece of research called The Lost Boys to discuss the challenges that are currently affecting boys and young men across the UK. This research will form part of government-influencing policy that will be put before parliamentarians.
The CSJ have been putting the heart of people into the heart of Government for 20-years – and thatโs how change happens. As part of the London visit the group were lucky enough to witness a live debate in the House of Commons to see first-hand the debate-to-decision process.
The young men shared personal stories and experiences of how they have been affected by issues such as school-exclusions, bullying, gang culture and pornography. They also gave their opinions on what they feel should change in society to reduce the pressure of these challenges.
No visit to London would be complete without a little bit of โbeing a touristโ so the group enjoyed lunch in Camden Market and a flight on the London Eye. One of The BHYโs major donors hosted the lads at Gaucho Steak Restaurant before heading home.
