Morning Campers!

Itโ€™s hard to believe that thereโ€™s only 15 weeks to go until The Boathouse Youth will be pitching-up at Bibbyโ€™s Farm in Chorley for a 3-week Summer Camp in partnership with around 200 young people from Blackpool. Last week internal stakeholders from right across the organisation got together to discuss the plans!

In the photo above, Maddie, 15, Youth CEO and Kayleigh, 15, Young Leader – both having just completed their assessment of the Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles (and passed!) set themselves the task of coordinating the planning alongside Sarah Lindsay, Head of Service, and Danielle Spencer, Grange Park Centre Manager.

The funding for the residential experience comes from our wide-network of philanthropists and corporate major donors who support many of the core aspects of our work.

Jacob Hewitt, 16, Young Leader and Tom, 21, our Business Administration Apprentice, contemplate the operational challenges of running a residential experience for young people.

A number of the young people participating in the experience will be joining our Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship Programme. Inductions commence in June 2024 with formal training set to begin in partnership with B-Skill the following September.

Each year young people choose a theme to explore during the residential experience. Last year, our 14-16-year-olds completed a project on Child Sexual Exploitation and Healthy Relationships. The programme included countryside walks exploring the topics through conversation, campfire presentations and legacy artwork which is now on display across their Youth Centres. Topic discussions for this yearโ€™s camp will commence in the coming weeks.
