Finance Assistant

We are looking for a talented part-time Finance Assistant to help us achieve our mission.

You will support the Head of Finance with the general bookkeeping and accounting within the charity. You will be well versed with all administrative tasks associated with a finance team. You will be responsible for overseeing and keeping appropriate documentation on payroll, bank transfers, National Insurance contributions, VAT returns and invoices.

As this is an Assistant role, you may be asked to help out with various other tasks in the finance team.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, good organisational skills, and working knowledge of accounting software. You must have a ‘can do’ attitude and a customer service/care approach to work. The successful candidate will have the ability to motivate and inspire those that they work with, and always be ready for a challenge.

Main duties of the role include:

  • Supplier Ledger Control (inputting invoices, arranging payments, and dealing with supplier queries)
  • Bank inputting & reconciliations
  • Nominal Ledger control
  • Collating and recording of payroll hours to submit to our payroll agency
  • Provide support for month-end and year-end functions


  • Good computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Experience of working with Sage 50
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills with experience of analytical work
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Meticulous to detail ensuring accuracy in all tasks


  • AAT Level 2 or working towards
