Thames Primary Academy

The Boathouse Youth has had a relationship with Thames Primary Academy since we opened in 2009 as the majority of our primary school aged members have always attended here as pupils.

The Headteacher, Tracy Harrison, is our Vice Chair of Trustees and whole-heartedly supports the partnership between her school and the organisation. Thames Primary Academy offer BHY use of their two 17-seater minibuses to complement our own – for which they provide the secure storage. By way of recompense we also allow the school use of our minibus, provide lunchtime play workers and run school discos for them up to 4 times each year.

Our Chairman, David Brennand, is a School Governor and our Chief Executive, Laurance Hancock, sits on the Children’s Centre Advisory Panel.

Under Mrs. Harrison’s Headship it has been a pleasure to watch the school premises improve so significantly to enhance the learning, safety and enjoyment of its pupils. We are honoured and thankful to be partnered with a school that is so willing to support the work of our organisation whilst also sharing in our aims. Long may this continue!

Boundary Primary School

The Boathouse Youth first “touched-based” with Boundary Primary School in 2016 when they were kind enough to donate 50 immaculate classroom chairs to our Bloomfield Youth Centre to replace our ageing and broken stock.

However, the relationship really developed in 2017 when we approached the school with a request of them becoming one of our key-partners for a brand new Grange Park Youth Club based at the school. The school’s commitment to the community of Grange Park has manifested itself by the Headteacher’s scrutiny of The Boathouse Youth before agreeing to the donation of their school hall and playground for BHY use four evenings a week.

As a small and local charity we had always had ambitions of expanding into other areas of Blackpool and this simply would not be possible in Grange Park without the support and generosity of Boundary Primary School.

In 2015 the school was rated as ‘Requires Improvement’ following an Ofsted Inspection and in May 2017, under new leadership, they were rightly proud to announce a rating of ‘Good’ in all areas. We would like to pass on our congratulations to Boundary and say how pleased and privileged we feel to be part of an extended school family.

Blackpool Gateway Academy

Blackpool Gateway Academy is a brand new school right in the heart of the Bloomfield Community. It opened in 2013 and during 2016 it became part of the Fylde Coast Multi-Academy Trust. The school, when at capacity, will cater for children ages 4-11. Each year two new reception classes are introduced to the school and the phased growth plan is currently at school Year 4.

Because BGA is so close to our Bloomfield Youth Centre it is really important that we maintain a positive relationship with the school. We are extremely appreciative of their willingness to allow us use of their Sports Field and Playground areas. This is particularly beneficial to The Boathouse Youth because our Bloomfield Centre has no outdoor space whatsoever due to the built-up area in which it sits.

We have also been delighted to support many of the PTFA’s previous events by providing staff or equipment and will continue to do so if the school require our input.
